Description

In one of the most sought-after shades for the garden right now, Papaver Victoria Louise's salmon-toned, blowsy blooms will add heaps of elegance, class, and beauty to your planting scheme. One of the most charming and striking varieties of Oriental poppy, Papaver Victoria Louise's blush-pink, ruffled petals are marked with a splash of deep purple at the base where the blackened seed head lies. The foliage is toothed and hairy in a lovely shade of grey-green. Clump forming, these plants will reach an eventual height of 90cm and spread of 60cm in 2-5 years. The stunning blooms of Papaver Victoria Louise are loved by bees and its slender stems reach heights of 1m. The plants will benefit from staking when stems emerge in early summer.Plant on free-draining, fertile soil and cut back the foliage once it looks untidy. The seedpods are beautiful and can be left standing in the garden to add interest and texture or cut for flower arrangements.

All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 C (5F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)
TR Tropical can withstand temperatures above 15 C (59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
