Papaver orientale Royal Wedding

An invaluable plant for successional interest, Papaver orientale 'Royal Wedding' blooms during the (often challenging) transition period between spring and summer, greatly assisting your garden as it moves from spring into summer. Flowers are large and cup-shaped with silky, crepe-paper-like, pure white petals, each marked with a purple-black blotch at the base. Foliage is an attractive feature in its own right; deeply divided (almost thistle-like), downy and silvery-green. The later seedheads also have aesthetic value - both cut and used in arrangements, or left on the plant for interest later in the year. Perfect for weaving through a sunny border, particularly those with a muted, white/ silver colour scheme. Extremely easy to grow, eager to naturalise and an invaluable source of nectar for pollinators. Papaver orientale 'Royal Wedding' prefers deep, fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. A hardy perennial which reaches a height of up to 90cm with a spread of 50cm. Cut back after flowering to encourage a second flush of blooms.
