Like the most glamorous of gowns, our Papaver Oriental Collection's (Beauty of Livermere, Victoria Louise, Royal Wedding) blowsy silken blooms will delight and impress you in striking, beautiful shades.Dramatic lipstick red, dusky salmon pink and monochromatic black and white, the petals of these Oriental poppies are satin and beautifully crinkled. A daub of contrasting, deep purple-black sits at the base of each petal, as though splashed with ink where the velvety seed head lies.Oriental poppies are an excellent choice for both modern and traditional planting schemes, where their beauty will sit well beside other plants. They grow well in a range of soils and benefit from a handful of organic matter at the time of planting. Place in a sunny to partially shaded spot and add staking when the stems emerge to support the large blooms as they can reach heights of 1m, flowering from May to July.Silvery-green, fuzzy foliage forms a clumping plant which will reach a spread of 60cm in 2-5 years and can be divided in autumn. The flamboyant flowers are fleeting, but the seedpod left standing adds another dimension to the garden or can be cut to add texture to your flower arrangements.

All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 C (5F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)
TR Tropical can withstand temperatures above 15 C (59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
