Paeonia lactiflora White Cap

When the delightful raspberry pink buds of Paeonia lactiflora 'White Cap' emerge in early May, you could be forgiven for thinking that there is no duality to colour of these generous flowers. However, shortly after the buds burst open to reveal a fantastically frilly, blush white, lacey-looking interior with a hidden rich golden heart. Only then will you understand the name of this fantastic flower and understand why it holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding performance in the garden. Stems are strong and often have several side shoots which extend the flowering period and allow to enjoy enough blooms for a vase as well as for the garden. With a sweet and alluring scent which wafts on the breeze these beauties are great for cutting and an irresistible temptation for pollinators too. Plant Paeonia lactiflora 'White Cap' in moist, well-drained soil which is humus-rich and has a spot in full sun or partial shade. A hardy, herbaceous perennial which is supplied as a bare root with 2-3 eyes. Plants mature to a height of 80cm with a spread of 60cm.
