Paeonia lactiflora Honey Gold

Paeonia lactiflora 'Honey Gold' (peony 'Honey Gold') Triple decker detail Quirky and unusual, Paeonia lactiflora 'Honey Gold' flowers from May to June, bearing fragrant, anemone-form flowers. These are creamy white with a central mass of yellow petaloids (narrow, crowded, petal-like structures), with further creamy white petaloids extending from these. Foliage is dark green and slim with serrated edges. A soft, delicate appearance belies the tough nature of this peony, which is derived from a species found growing wild in Siberia, Mongolia, China, and Tibet. Peonies make a long-lived addition to the garden, though it is important to get the planting location right first time, as any form of disturbance is resented. Ideal for a mixed perennial border or planting with shrubs to provide lower storey interest. Peonies also make excellent cut flowers, with a vase life of around a week if cut in bud.
