Description

Not only are these special little trees easy to grow they are supplied small enough to also make a fabulous display inside over Christmas too. You can dress them up with festive decorations and blooms to make a wonderful table display or just enjoy them as they are for a touch of Celtic tradition inside this year (they symbolise peace and goodwill). Once the celebrations are over Mr and Mrs Holly will need to move outside into a spot which enjoys slightly acidic to neutral, moist and well-drained soil in full sun. We highly recommend planting the pair close to eachother, where they will intertwine as they grow. Each summer the male, Blue Prince, will fertilise the female, Blue Angel, ensuring the production of bright red berries in the wintertime. In the summertime Blue Prince likes to put on a display of small white flowers to attract pollinators, while Blue Angel prefers to wow in the winter, taking on a blue tinge to fit in with its frosty friends. Ilex × meserveae 'Blue Angel' and Ilex x meserveae 'Blue Prince' are both fully hardy, slowing growing hollies. Both varieties will flower in late spring-summer and the female variety (Blue Angel) will produce festive red berries year on year given the right conditions. Plant them both in the same spot to allow them to intertwine as they grow to a maximum height of 4m with a spread of 2m.
