Description
Grown as a specimen plant, or mingled with other perennials, Miscanthus sinensis Morning Light gives year-round interest, and introduces valuable movement into your garden. An upright, flexible clump is formed by narrow, white striped, green foliage which arches gracefully at the top. Hence the common name, as Miscanthus sinensis means 'little fountain'. In late summer and autumn, strong stems hold airy plumes of tassel-like, silvery-red flowers. Excellent cut for both fresh and dried flower arrangements within your home. Remaining attractive all year round, the magnificent foliage turns shades of copper in autumn. This beauty extends into winter as foliage changes to buff and offers seasonal protection to local wildlife. Such an amazing plant, it is no wonder that Miscanthus sinensis 'Morning Light' has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden. Happy in coastal areas and both deer and rabbit resistant, Miscanthus sinensis Morning Light grows up to 1.8m in height, spreading up to 1.2m. Prefers moist, well-drained soil in sun. A hardy perennial, ornamental grass.
