Description

A new introduction to the family, Miscanthus sinensis 'Boucle' is one of the darkest flowered of the family. Elegant, tapering green foliage with a handsome white stripe and flushed purple tips becomes tinged with beautiful orange tones in autumn. Grasses introduce texture and movement to a garden and soften hard landscaping. For relaxed prairie style planting, let Miscanthus weave amongst other perennials, where they will sway gently in the breeze. Watch with intrigue as unique, fleshy, almost crinkled looking panicles slowly open to reveal feathery-looking plumes in late summer and autumn, each maturing to shades of glistening silver in the autumn. Miscanthus sinensis originate from eastern Asia and is also known commonly as Chinese Silver Grass - sinensis means 'from China'. Miscanthus sinensis 'Boucle' prefers moist, well-drained soil in sun. Reaching a mature height and spreading to 1m. A hardy perennial which should not require any extra protection throughout most of the UK, is usual winters.
