Traditionally grown and seen in the Mediterranean or admired in our home-grown lavender fields, they'll also happily grow in your garden. They adore poor, dry, well-drained soil, if your soil is heavy, add gravel to improve drainage and only water once the soil has dried out. Flowering from July to September you'll have a natural source for making calming Lavender Tea or drop some dried sprigs into a bath or under your pillow to relax and help you sleep. Ideal as cut flowers or dry for future use. Loved by bees and butterflies, be sure to cut back the flowers and foliage to a couple of inches above ground level after the flower colour has faded to prevent the plant from becoming woody in future years. These fully hardy perennials prefer to bask in the sun for at least half of the day.

How hardy are your plants?

All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 C (5F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)
TR Tropical can withstand temperatures above 15 C (59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
