Liriope muscari Okina

Linope are a genus of plant which are becoming popular in UK gardens. Should you not have heard of them, Linope is a low growing, herbaceous flowering plants from East Asia. Often mistakenly called 'lilyturf' because of the grass-like evergreen foliage. Though not a grass as evidenced by the gorgeous lilac-purple flowers which grow from Okina; not unlike those produced by Muscari bulbs - hence the 'Muscari' part of the name. The appeal for Linope is due to this plants ability to withstand a wide range of conditions - drought, wet, sun or shade - nothing appears to bother this plant, stop it growing, nor stop it flowering. A truly versatile addition to the garden. Okina is an architectural shade-loving evergreen which will introduce year-round movement to your garden. You will be fascinated to watch the young foliage emerging white, becoming speckled then mature to green over time. The large, glistening, flower spikes appear from August to November to brighten the garden whilst most other plants are fading away. Provides weed suppressing ground cover. Prefers moist, well drained soil in part or full shade. Height 35cm (14 inches). Spread 45cm (18 inches). Fully hardy perennial. An easy grow herbaceous perennial which requires little maintenance.
