Tell Me More...
Elegant trumpet shaped flowers open as pure white and soon turn to buff yellow as they mature, ensuring an abundance of white and yellow flowers at the same time. Add to this, the much-loved familiar honeysuckle scent, the dark green foliage, and glossy black berries in autumn. Lonicera japonica Halliana grows vigorously and will thrive in a wall side border, over an arch or in a cottage garden, reaching a height of 10m if left unchecked. Pollinators, including bees, moths and butterflies are big fans of the nectar rich flowers, birds will appreciate the berries as a source of food in the autumn.Happiest in full sun or partial shade, in moist but well drained soil and reaching a spread of 2m, Lonicera japonica Halliana is classed as hardy H5 so should not require winter protection in most areas of the UK.
