Iris sibirica Peacock Butterfly Like Lavender

Part of a new, exciting series of irises, developed by specialist growers, Schafer and Sacks, in Boston, Massachusetts and now brought to the UK. Iris sibirica 'Peacock Butterfly Like Lavender' offers a visual delight with lilac falls, or outer petals, in pale lilac flashed with yellow, then interior petals, or standards, in rich hues of white and pale blue accompanied by deeper tones. Bred for multiple strong stems, upright and sturdy foliage, alongside a longer bloom time, from May to July, these wonderous flowers will reach up to 90cm tall - adding softly scented splendour to borders, damp gardens and containers. So adaptable that, once established, plants are drought tolerant too. Plant them in moist, well-drained soil where they receive full sun or partial shade and deadhead individual flowers as they fade. Exceptional cut for vases and bouquets and providers of vital sustenance to garden pollinators. Foliage is sword-like and durable, lasting from March through to October for further interest. A hardy, herbaceous perennial supplied as a Grade 1 bare root.
