Beautiful, ruffled petals that look so delicate they could have been hand-painted with their harmonious colourings and often admired by botanical artists for their intriguing markings. Standing on sturdy stems 70-90cm high, the flowers appear from late May and early June where they will burst into bloom with the start of spring. Plant amongst other late spring and summer flowering favourites for a wonderful, naturalised display. Irises are great for planting towards the back of the border and will take the floral chalice from the spring Tulips as they die back and allow summer blooms to flourish. Filling gaps easily with the clump-forming foliage of architectural sword-like green leaves, some iris rebloom through the late summer too. Often admired at the Chelsea Flower show, these are perfect for cottage garden borders and modern styles too. Great for cutting and enjoying indoors. Incredibly hardy perennials, that will adore a full sun position.
