Hydrangea quercifolia Tara

Incredibly dense flowerheads are produced by tightly packed white florets that open from greenish buds from June to October. Looking almost like a mophead hydrangea, the stems make incredible additions to your indoor floral creations, lasting well in a vase. The name quercifolia derives from the latin words meaning 'oak' and 'leaf', hence the common name 'oakleaf hydrangea', this stems from the shape of the leaf, rather than the species being related. Native to woodland areas in the southern states of north America, unlike other Hydrangea, once established 'Tara' is surprisingly drought tolerant. Incredible autumnal colour as the leaves turn beautiful shades of bronze and red hues, before falling for the winter, ready to resprout again in the spring. Reaching a mature height and spread of up to 1.8m when grown in moist, well-drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded spot, Hydrangea quercifolia 'Tara' is a fully hardy herbaceous perennial, with an RHS hardiness rating of H7, so you will not need to give it any protection over winter.
