Hydrangea serrata Bluebird is one of the few hydrangea to give spectacular autumn colour, you will be amazed as the foliage turns sumptuous shades of crimson as the days get shorter, before the leaves drops for the winter. In spring, fresh new foliage emerges then in summer a profusion of large, flattened, lace-cap flower-heads with blue fertile flowers and pale blue sterile florets are produced, which make excellent flowers cut for arrangements within your home. Hydrangea serrata Bluebird has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society, for outstanding performance in the garden. Hydrangea Bluebird is a compact, relatively small, rounded Hydrangea and is the perfect addition to your borders but also wonderful in containers where it is sure to delight on your patio. Preferring to grow in slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soil in part shade and reaching a height and spread of approximately 1m, Hydrangea Bluebird is a hardy perennial that will flourish outside in most of the UK, only requiring protection during the worst of winter weather in the coldest of areas.
