Description

In shades reminiscent of the sky on a summer's day, Hyacinthus orientalis Sky Jacket will remind you of happy, warm, sunny days. Large flowerheads are formed by clusters of bell-shaped, wisteria-like ice blue blooms, packed tightly upon on strong stems above broad, strap-shaped foliage in spring. Also known as 'Nature's spring perfume', hyacinth have been a paragon of spring for generations. Grown in borders, containers, baskets or window boxes, they have been loved and appreciated for their delightful perfume. You will be enticed outside to take in the glorious sight and scent of delicious perfume. Hyacinth make wonderful cut flowers, lasting well in a vase, so you can also enjoy the fragrance indoors. Hyacinthus are named, according to Greek legend, after a beautiful young man of the same name, who was killed accidently by a god whilst being taught to throw the discus. The plant apparently sprang from his blood as it spilled on the ground. Easy to grow, Hyacinthus orientalis Sky Jacket is a perennial bulb so will come back in your borders and containers year after year. Reaching an approximate height of 20-25cm, it is both deer and rabbit resistant and is hardy throughout most of the UK down to around -10 C, often lower.
