Description

The two toned appearance of Honeysuckle Halliana from their abundant flowers of white and yellow with its strong scent is a staple of the English cottage garden. The long flowering season of April to August matched by the semi evergreen nature of the glossy leaves gives the plant interest all year long. As with all Japanese varieties of honeysuckle the Halliana is very quick growing and could be covering your pergola or shed by autumn. To stop it from getting out of hand it should be pruned by about two thirds in its first year. This will help the roots establish and anchor itself for the winter. Beloved by bees and butterflies in summer and birds in the winter by way of their berries this is the climber that provides attraction all through the year. Honeysuckle Halliana is perfect for any full sun or partial shade location.

All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 C (5F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)
TR Tropical can withstand temperatures above 15 C (59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
