Hepatica nobilis

Hepatica nobilis is an exciting and enchanting spring-flowering beauty which has kidney-shaped leaves, often with silvery, marbled markings. Flowers appear in multiples on solitary stems, with golden centres and magical white stamens from March through to April each year. Ideal for woodland gardens, underneath shrubs and roses or in pots or rockeries too. This intriguing plant is also known as Crystal Wort, Ivy Flower or Liverleaf and is much appreciated for the considerable charm it brings to your planting. This has been recognised by the RHS as Hepatica nobilis holds the Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding performance. Plants are highly weather-resistant, and flowers often stay open for weeks at a time, undeterred by rain and wind - although they are at their widest and most colourful on sunny spring days. Prefers moist, well-drained soil in part shade. A hardy, semi-evergreen perennial which will readily naturalise in the right conditions and reaches a height and spread of 10-15cm.
