You will marvel at the beautiful, long-lasting blooms of Helleborus Anemone White with Pink Edge as, whilst as most other plants slumber, they fill the bleakest months with a glimmer of hope and an image of opulence. Known as Lenten Rose, because they flower from late winter until spring, Helleborus are actually related to the buttercup family and a great source of food for the very earliest emerging pollinating insects in late winter. Defying the winter cold, large, nodding, cup-shaped blooms are held on strong stems above clumps of glossy, dark green, evergreen foliage which further accentuates their beauty. Excellent cut for arrangements in your home, you will be able to enjoy them inside too. The Cornish refer to Helleborus plants as 'The Virgin's Mantle'. In Medieval times they were said to be good for breaking bad spells and curses so were often planted next to the front door. Today they are known for their unsurpassed winter beauty. Helleborus are deer and rabbit resistant, preferring to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in dappled shade. Growing to a height and spread of approximately 35cm, Helleborus are fully hardy and perennial, so you can enjoy them in containers or borders year after year
