Description

Also known as Ruby Dwarf, the characteristic, shuttlecock-like flower shape of Helenium Rubinzwerg, in shades of red, fading to orange as they mature, are quite unlike any other daisy shaped flower. More compact than other Helenium, Rubinzwerg will still pack a punch, as hundreds of blooms shining with sizzling shades from summer until well into the autumn, when many other perennials have finished. The nectar-rich blooms are loved by both bees and butterflies, who will come flocking for a feast. Helenium are also popular with florists, as when cut they last well in a vase. Helenium Rubinzwerg has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden. So versatile, whether planted with grasses in a naturalistic planting scheme, a cottage garden or in a more formal design, Helenium Rubinzwerg is happy in containers or borders creating bold colour for months on end. Legend tells that Helenium sprang from the ground, watered by the tears of Helen of Troy. Also known as Sneezeweed as apparently the leaves were once used in snuff! So easy to grow and very long flowering, Helenium are deer and rabbit resistant, preferring to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Rubinzwerg grows outside happily with no winter protection,.
