Description

Legend tells that Helenium sprang from the ground, watered by the tears of Helen of Troy. Known commonly as Sneezeweed, their leaves were once used to make snuff. With their autumnal colour - Helenium will ensure your alate season garden is full of fiery shades. Shining like beacons of light, hundreds of bold, shuttlecock-like flowers in scorching hues create dramatic colour in your borders and containers. Helenium flower summer and deep into autumn, with their characteristic flower shape. Tall strong stems hold the blooms high above the foliage, which makes Helenium perfect as cut flowers for your home, lasting well in a vase. Versatile, whether planted with grasses in a prairie garden, in a cottage garden, or in a more formal design. Dancing in the wind, the blooms are much loved by bees and butterflies. Helenium prefer to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or part shade. With an RHS hardiness rating of H7, they will happily grow outside all year round with no winter protection required.
