Description

Cute and compact Helenium are perfect for a patio pot or container, providing long-lasting seasonal colour from midsummer until October and often longer. You can rely on Heleniums to flower for months on end, attracting a host of pollinators to your garden with their nectar-rich, daisy-like blooms with raised centres. Growing to a maximum height of 40-50cm, Helenium Lemon Sundae, Strawberry Sundae and Short and Sassy are great placed towards the front of your borders - perfect for a pop of vibrant colour or adding a cottage garden feel. All are fully hardy so require no extra protection over the winter months, dying back to become dormant, then sprouting again in the springtime. Plant Heleniums in fertile soil which is moist and well-drained. A bright spot is best for these sun-lovers. Helenium are often referred to as Sneezeweed as their leaves were traditionally dried and ground to make snuff which - inhaled to bring on sneezing which was thought to rid the body of evil spirits.
