Description

Graceful and elegant, Gladioli communis Byzantinus produces an intense, eye-catching display in late spring and early summer. Beautiful funnel-shaped blooms, with magenta-pink petals and a narrow white strip of white through each one are held on strong stems above clumps of long narrow leaves. With up to 20 blooms on each stem, they are excellent cut for use in arrangements within your home, lasting well in a vase. Also known as the Eastern Gladiolus, Gladiolus communis is native to the Mediterranean. Given the Royal Horticultural Society's prestigious award of garden merit for outstanding performance in the garden. Reaching a height of approximately 90cm and spreading to around 20cm Gladioli Byzantinus will naturally make an amazing clump. Gladioli communis Byzantinus prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Being a hardy perennial (5), she will flourish in a sunny spot for you to enjoy for years to come with little winter protection required. The foliage tends to die back in winter, ready to resprout again in the spring.
