Description

Geranium phaeum 'Joseph Green' is a new and unusual addition to the border. It is a shade-loving variety with rare and exciting floriferous abilities. Its attractive ground-covering, deeply lobed foliage grows from April to November each year. Then from March until May, smoky-purple, double blooms with intriguingly shaped, contrastingly coloured, multiple stigmas are borne on strong, narrow stems. Geranium phaeum 'Joseph Green' was discovered by horticulturalist and botanist, Lynne Green, growing in her own garden and named after her father - who had gifted her the original purple Geranium phaeum from which this was a cultivar. After trials and tests to check the stability of this new plant it is finally available to the public and is sure to prove incredibly popular. Geranium phaeum 'Joseph Green' is a fully hardy, clump-forming herbaceous perennial. Once the roots have established the plant benefits from being drought tolerant. Prefers moist, well-drained soil in full shade to full sun and will reach a maximum height of 1m with a spread of 50cm
