You will need to take a second glance to check that this is a Geranium, as plenum Double Diamond Star produces double, white, star-shaped flowers with splashes of pink-purple sparkle all summer long on the treasure trove of compact foliage. Highly sought-after, rare and unusual, double Geranium have all the wonderful attributes of their single flowered cousins and they are so versatile, happy to be grown between other perennials with very little care required at all. Not to be confused with the geranium you see in hanging baskets, Geranium Double Diamon Star is incredibly easy to grow in both borders or containers. It is amazingly floriferous, producing rose-bud-like blooms all summer long and into early autumn and will happily entwine with other near-by plants. The deeply dissected foliage creates an attractive weed-suppressing groundcover which is slug and rabbit resistant, whilst being drought tolerant. The clumps get larger each year and can be divided after several years to create more plants to share. Growing to a height and spread of 45cm, Geranium plenum Double Diamond Star is not fussy on soil conditions and is happy in either sun or part shade. Being a fully hardy perennial, it will thrive outside for you to enjoy for years to come without the need for winter protection.
