Description

Gaultheria Procumbens is a dwarf evergreen shrub often known as the Partridgeberry because these delightful birds will happily feast on the rosy, red berries and may even make a rare visit to a domestic garden as a consequence. Although this would, of course, mean they leave the archetypal 'pear tree' in the 12 days of Christmas to do so! G. Procumbens likes to be kept moist and away from direct heat if enjoyed indoors this Christmas - and this petite, festive plant will make a much less prickly substitute for holly in seasonal decorations for your table too. It will tolerate brief spells in heated environments and then, after Christmas, G. procumbens can be planted out as a fully hardy, low growing shrub which will last for years to come. Not only does it produce berries in winter - in summer it will delight you further with delicate, white, deeply scented flowers that bees and other pollinators adore.
