The common single snowdrop. Snowdrops are loved by everyone. Great delight is caused when in the depths of winter snowdrops appear. Perfect planted under shrubs where they will quickly grow to form dense clumps, alternatively they are happy left to naturalise in a lawn. Height 12.5cm (5). Buying bulbs 'in the green' means that the plants are delivered in spring, whilst they are growing. For some plants it is a much more reliable way of achieving success than planting dry bulbs in the autumn. Bulbs 'in the green' should be planted soon after arrival. If this is not possible maybe because of frozen ground they should be planted into pots. The bulb should be planted submerged below ground level, with the green foliage exposed above soil level.

How hardy are your plants?

All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 C (5F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)
TR Tropical can withstand temperatures above 15 C (59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
