Tell Me More...
The taste of freshly cut asparagus far exceeds those sold in the shops. Appetising Asparagus Collection contains 3 of the best for flavour (raw or cooked), yield and reliability. What's more, asparagus are considered one of the most desirable 'superfood' vegetables to plant - an excellent source of natural fibre, folates, essential vitamins, and antioxidants. Slice it raw into salads and buddha bowls or griddle and dip into boiled eggs - just a couple of ways to enjoy this delicious plant. This joyous bundle includes one each of AGM award-winning 'Gijnlim', colourful 'Pacific Purple', and late-season 'Vittorio'.Plant bare-root Asparagus crowns between March and May into prepared beds in full sun and well-drained soil with a south or west facing aspect. If you garden on heavy clay, consider growing in raised beds as good drainage is essential. Resist harvesting tips during the first and even second year, allowing your Appetising Asparagus Collection to develop into large healthy plants which will give higher yields in subsequent years. Hardy perennials which reach a height of 1.5m (including flower stem) and a spread of 60cm.
