Fritillaria persica Ivory Bells

Exciting, new and unusual blooms which emerge on strong, tall stems from April to May each year. The zesty white, bell-shaped flowers have a rich, extravagant presence in borders, rockeries, pots and even lawns. In the right conditions these beauties naturalise and will always draw in pollinators for a nectar rich feast. Plant 'en masse' for captivating impact in the garden or mix with other naturalising bulbs and perennials to spread their joy far and wide. Their strong, decorous stems also make a brilliant addition to a vase or other floral display and are sure to receive admiring comments. Unsurprisingly, Fritillaria persica 'Ivory Bells' originates from Iran, the modern name for ancient Persia, and is also frequently seen growing on mountain slopes or in valleys throughout Turkey and the Middle East. As in their native homeland, these wonderous blooms prefer well-drained soil in full sun with a south or east facing aspect in order to thrive. They are hardy, bulbous perennials which reach a height of 90-100cm with a spread of around 20cm.
