Description

Large white flowers with burgundy throats create an impact Commonly known as Foxgloves, Digitalis are nostalgic, much-loved woodland plants adored by bees and pollinators. A biennial, or short-lived perennial, Digitalis Elsie Kelsey blooms during the second year of growth before setting seed. The dramatic spires are packed with huge bells of white flowers which have a contrasting, burgundy-splashed interior. Wonderful for cutting and adding an elegant flourish to a vase or urn. Grows best in rich, moist soil which is well-drained, in a position in full sun or part shade. If you garden on heavy clay soil, enrich the area prior to planting with leaf mould and add grit to the base of planting holes to aid drainage. Digitalis Elsie Kelsey has been awarded a prestigious Award of Garden merit from the RHS and suits contemporary or traditional gardens and large container planting. Place towards the back of the border to bloom over your other plants. H&S: 1.2m x 45cm Sow seed in mid-summer for blooms the following year. Digitalis Elsie Kelsey is a fully hardy (H7) biennial which does not require any winter protection.
