Description
Fountains of graceful, arching stems smothered in sparkling white blooms pour from Exochorda racemosa 'Niagara' in April and May with exuberant spring abundance. Pale green leaves form a garland around clusters of buds which resemble exquisite pearls, giving the plant its common name - 'Pearl bush'. A smaller variation of 'The Bride', this valuable shrub maintains a compact form, yet does not compromise on flower power! Despite its delicate appearance, Exochorda Racemosa 'Niagara' is fully hardy, low maintenance, and thrives in any moist, well-drained soil. H&S 1.5m x 1.5m. Plant in full sun to illuminate the cascading stems of shimmering blooms. Will also tolerate part shade and can be planted in a large container. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a domed shape and apply a thick mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the base of your shrub in spring. Exochorda racemose 'Niagara' has a hardiness rating of H6.
