Description
Grown for its lush, rounded, juvenile foliage which appears silvery blue at first, and then turns green as the tree ages. This Australian specimen is loved for its subtle aromatic fragrance, insect repelling qualities and sheer versatility. This stems of this eye-catching hardy evergreen are interesting; flaking bark falls to reveal the delicate patterns on the main trunk of the mature specimen. Your fast-growing eucalyptus tree may ultimately grow higher than 12m and wider than 8m and will need regular pruning in early spring. This hardy shrub prefers slightly acidic soil that is moist but well-drained and it will need regular pruning each spring. If not planted in the ground, your eucalyptus will need repotting every two years and fed monthly with a balanced liquid fertiliser. We also recommend keeping the soil moist, do not allow it to dry out. Try using the dried leaves as a delightful potpourri, add the fresh ones to your herbal tea, or make yourself a multiuse eucalyptus oil - said to sooth achy joints and irritated skin, treat dry skin, relieve cold symptoms, and decrease symptoms of stress. To make the oil, you put a large handful of fresh, washed eucalyptus leaves and 1 cup of extra virgin olive oil into a slow cooker (or over a low heat for six hours). Let this cool, strain and voilà . Keep it in a cool dry place and be sure not to ingest.

How hardy are your plants?
All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.
FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 °C (5°F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5°C (23°F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0°C (32°F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5°C (41°F)
WT – Warm temperate – can withstand temperatures between 5-10 °C (41-50 °F)
ST – Sub Tropical – are happy in temperatures between 10-15 °C (50 – 59 °F)
TR – Tropical – can withstand temperatures above 15 °C (59 °F)
Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
