Description

Elegant and graceful, Erythronium californicum White Beauty almost seems to glimmer, brightening the shadiest areas of your garden in March and April. Commonly known as dogs tooth violet because the bulb resembles a canine tooth, Erythronium White Beauty is a wonderful woodland plant. Rosettes of glossy, green, mottled foliage bears green stems, each holding up to 10 nodding, creamy-white blooms up to 6cm in width, with yellow markings and red-brown throat. Erythronium californicum White Beauty has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden. Originating from California, the star-like flowers of dog's tooth violets closely resemble lilies, with re-curved petals and prominent, bright stamens. Each plant will reach a height of 30cm and width of 10cm and will naturalise, spreading happily in a shady border or spring pot. Deer and rabbit resistant, Erythronium prefer moist, well-drained soil which can drain easily.
