Description

A wonderful collection of colour-changing perennial wallflowers. Erysimum are similar to annual wallflowers yet better, as they last for several years whilst improving each year. Known for their incredible long flowering period, a mass of buds emerges in spring flowering through to the autumn. You will find by late spring copious clusters have opened and continue to produce colour until late autumn. A particular feature of Erysimum are the blooms change colour as they mature. The evergreen foliage when covered with flowers presents a delightful vision. Much loved by florists, Erysimum are excellent as cut flowers for your home, lasting up to 10 days in a vase. This collection comprises Winter Orchid - flowers open copper and mature to purple; Winter Charme - bright pastel-coloured blooms fade and become pale cream and white; Constant Cheer - opens orange-red, maturing through shades of pink to purple; Apricot Twist produces dark buds from which bright orange, gently scented blooms build; Bowles Mauve - with blue-green foliage, produces clear, rich, mauve flowers. Erysimum are loved by bees, easy to grow, rabbit resistant and prefer well-drained soil in sun or part shade, growing to approximate heights of between 30-75cm and spread of 40-50cm. Erysimum are fully hardy perennials and will happily survive most winters outside, only needing protection during the very coldest of winters if the soil is not well-drained.
