Tell Me More...
There is, undoubtedly, an element of fun to these crazy evergreen, Canary Island natives. When the Epic Echium Collection flowers it certainly creates unmissable monsters in the garden. Echium is a biennial plant and when you see the size of the flower spikes you will fully understand the plant's need to build up reserves for a year or two before putting on an epic show. At first, low rosettes of silver, spear-like leaves are formed in preparation. Then, in subsequent years, a colossal column of flowers emerges from May to July - acting as a magnet for pollinators as well as making a dramatic statement in a sunny, sheltered garden. Epic Echium Collection is comprised of evergreen, half-hardy biennials which will require protection from frost over winter. All prefer a site in full sun which benefits from well-drained soil. Plants reach staggering 3.6-4m in height with a spread of 1m.Collection comprises: award-winning pininana 'Pink Fountain'; pininana 'Snow Tower'; and award-winning pininana
