Description

Starry doubles shimmering with sunshine Once linked to Aztec sun-worshipping ceremonies, dahlias are now a symbol of summer in British gardens. Your Dahlia 'Karma Corona' will wreathe your garden in sunshine with double blooms in warming shades of apricot and gold. This semi-cactus variety will fascinate with spidery flowers of rolled petals. Gold in the centre, these starry blooms will stretch up to 20cm wide with rays of pastel-orange. From June to the first of the frosty weather, this Mexican native will be swathed with tall blooms on robust stems - much to the delight of bees and butterflies. Dahlias blooms are considered particularly long-lasting as a cut flowers and make an excellent choice for flower arrangements. Taking cuttings and deadheading your spent flowers will also encourage a new burst of blooms. Pot up the tuber root of your Dahlia 'Karma Corona' in a warm place and keep it inside until all risk of frost is over. When planting your dahlia in the garden, a south or west-facing location will help your half hardy dahlia thrive. Best positioned in a sheltered spot with full sunshine, your plant will also benefit from moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil. In cooler climates, lift your tuber after the foliage has been blackened by the first frost and store it in a cool, dry place until spring. When fully-grown, your Dahlia 'Karma Corona' will reach a maximum height and spread of 90cm by 60cm.
