Description

A delightful, award-winning double in yellow and white Once grown by the Aztecs for their nutritious tubers and even trialled as a food crop in Europe, dahlias have certainly come a long way in the last 500 years. Now a staple of British gardens for the flowers, one glance at Dahlia 'Freya's Paso Doble' and you will understand why these plants are so popular. This striking anemone variety is a well-deserved winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit. With a rich-yellow powder puff of pillowy petals surrounded by outer florets in crisp white, Dahlia 'Freya's Paso Doble' will take your breath away. Much loved by visiting pollinators, the lustrous double blooms appear on tall, upright stems from June to October. This deciduous, tuberous perennial will make a spectacular addition to any border or container which benefits from full sunshine and provide long-lasting cut blooms to grace your home. Pot up your tuber root in a warm place and keep it inside until all risk of frost is over. In the garden, a south or west facing, sheltered location with moist, well-drained soil will suit your half hardy plant. In cooler climates, it is best to lift tubers in the autumn and store in a cool, frost-free and dry environment until spring. Your Dahlia 'Freya's Paso Doble' will reach a maximum height and spread of 100cm by 60cm.
