Description

A well-known shrub for its spectacular spring display of golden yellow blooms when on masse appear like a bright, glowing haze across the border. Small blooms cover the masses of gracefully arching stems during May and June where foliage is not even thought about. An easy to grow shrub, also known as Broom, Cytisus becomes drought resistant once established and a reliable spring bloomer each year. Preferring a full sun position, Cytisus can be pruned back to side shoots after flowering to ensure a bountiful display the following spring. This shrub has been given the prestigious award of garden merit from the RHS for its robust nature, ease of growth and versatility in most garden soils and aspects. Great for planting in mixed border displays alongside spring flowering bulbs or equally as an informal, flowering hedge. Fully hardy perennial.
