Tell Me More...
Cytisus battandieri produce an abundance of pea-like blooms which run along upright stems, literally smothering the foliage and shimmering in the sunshine from late spring into summer. Cytisus' common name is 'Broom' because the long 'whip-like' stems were once cut and tied together to make brushes. In early summer, eye-catching, bright yellow, pea-like blooms appear in erect panicles to the delight of your pollinators. Each bloom is shaped and scented like a delicious pineapple. Much loved by our pollinating friends and a florist's dream because cut stems last 14-21 days in a vase.Instantly recognisable when growing in the wild, often seen on heaths, open woodlands and coastal areas, Cytisus is so versatile and colourful, we can now offer three new varieties producing shimmering blooms throughout the summer in your garden.Cytisus prefer to be grown in a sunny spot in well-drained soil and are fully hardy perennials which flourish outside all year round with no winter protection required.
