Description
Crocus Ruby Giant is a large-flowered crocus which could be twinned with a striped variety such as King of the Striped or a white crocus such as Jeanne D'Arc for a dazzling spring border. Perfect for the front of the border these cup-shaped blooms are a deep red-purple colour with yellow and orange stamens providing a counterpoint. The narrow leaves with silvery stripe provide a perfect contrast. Plant crocuses in rockeries, containers or under the lawn - taking care not to mow the foliage after flowering for about 6 weeks. Ruby Giant prefers well-drained soil with some moisture in full sun but sheltered. This crocus should be planted September-October for a dazzling spring display in February-March. Ruby Giant will naturalise easily in the garden and clumps can be divided. Crocuses love the sun and will open their petals at sunrise and close them at night or on a rainy day.
