Description

Crocus x luteus Golden Yellow is an RHS award-winning plant that would enhance any spring border with its cheery yellow flowers. Each corm can produce up to 5 yellow cup-shaped blooms enhanced by narrow green leaves with a characteristic white stripe down the centre. These flowers respond to the sun opening in the morning and closing at night or on rainy days. Plant in drifts of colour or ideal for rockeries, containers or the front of an herbaceous border. This hardy perennial will bloom year after year. Plant in September-October for early spring colour in February/March. Golden Yellow is also known as 'Yellow Mammoth' and prefers well-drained soil with some moisture. These crocus bulbs enjoy a sunny spot and to be sheltered from the wind. Leave foliage to die back to ensure a good display next season. Crocuses that were planted the previous year normally bloom earlier the following year.
