Description

Statuesque funnels of summer scented blooms A wonderful fragrance will greet you as the abundance of lily-like blooms of Crinum x powellii open from late summer to autumn. Held on leafless stems above mounds of usually evergreen arching strap-like foliage, growing Crinum will introduce movement to your borders and containers. The open, funnel-shaped blooms make an interesting, impressive, and elegant addition to floral arrangements as cut flowers, so you can fully enjoy the scent in your home. Known commonly as the Swamp Lily, these tough and long-lived plants are often found growing in cemeteries, marshes or near lakes and streams, where they will flower for years with very little attention required. Crinum x powellii prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in a sunny spot where it will reach an approximate height of 1.5m and spread 30-60cm. A hardy bulbous perennial, with an RHS hardiness rating of H5.
