Description

Proclaimed as one of the best cultivars for vigorous growth and richness of winter colour. Cornus sanguinea 'Anny's Winter Orange' produces large white 'flowers', or bracts, in June and July - the centre of which forms ornamental berries in early autumn, a bonus for the birds and wildlife. These are accompanied by bushy green foliage which adds form and volume to borders and containers, shifting to golden yellow and orange in autumn. Then, over winter, stems change to vibrant orange-red - bringing fire and warmth to borders when they are at their most sparse. Cornus sanguinea 'Anny's Winter Orange' is so much admired that the RHS has bestowed their Award of Garden Merit on it for its outstanding performance in the garden. Plants prefer a spot which benefits from moist, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, easy to grow with minimum maintenance. A hardy, deciduous shrub which matures to a height and spread of 2.3-2.5 metres.
