Clematis montana Broughton Star

A star is born; Clematis 'Broughton Star' produces an abundance of scented, semi-double and double, rosy-pink blooms with deep pink veining from late spring into the summer. As the fragrance is carried on the breeze, bees and butterflies will come visiting to investigate. Bronze-tinted young foliage matures to dark green. Classified as pruning group 1, the blooms are held on branches from the previous summer's growth, which means little, or no pruning required. Clematis 'Broughton Star' has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden. Clematis 'Broughton Star' prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in sun or part shade with roots in shade. A fully hardy perennial, given the RHS hardiness rating of H5, and should not require any winter protection (in an average winter). Reaching a height of around 8m and spreading to around 4m. Flowering on the previous year's shoots, no regular pruning necessary, just prune to size.
