Description
As a result of recent Japanese breeding there are new debutantes to the Clematis world. Highly flamboyant, showing off their splendid, boundless blooms from May to October - with blooms almost covering the climbing foliage as it clambers over walls, fences, up an obelisk or trellis. Clematis 'Taiga' was launched at the Chelsea Flower Show 2017 - violet-purple petals with contrasting lime-green tips create huge blousy blooms. Clematis 'Kokonoe' was introduced to the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019 - in shades of rich purple, the first petals form large bowl-shaped blooms before shorter central ones complete the palm-size blooms. The latest addition is the beautiful sister, Clematis 'Manju' - with buds which open wide, forming large bowl-shaped blooms of cream and green. Wonderful planted in a pot or a border, preferring to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Classified as pruning group 3, these easy to grow climbers are perfect for beginners. Reaching a height in maturity of around 250cm they are hardy perennials, which will flourish outside all year round for many years; no winter protection required.
