Description

Difficult name, superb plant. Chionochloa means nothing more than 'snow grass'. Taupo is a delightful town in the middle of New Zealand's North island, and you will find 'Snow Grass' originates in this beautiful country. This is a tall growing grass, with feathery flumes which sway gently in the summer breeze. The arching stems grow to 150cm high from within the grassy base. Taupo Lights is new to the UK and if you are a fan of ornamental grasses, this is one to enjoy. Growing grasses has become a fashionable trend in gardening and if you were thinking of growing some yourself, go for this one.

All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 C (5F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)
TR Tropical can withstand temperatures above 15 C (59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
