This unusual tree, Cercis Siliquastrum, provides a prolific display of deep-pink, nectar-filled flowers in spring which unceremoniously explode from nodes along its bark. It proves popular with both wildlife and people, who intriguingly wonder what it is. Blooms are followed by flat woody seed pods which hang in clusters along its branches above the heart-shaped leaves. Await the autumnal finales when they turn a vibrant butter yellow before dropping.

How hardy are your plants?

All plants have a guideline temperature for how well they will tolerate winter cold.

FH - Fully hardy - will withstand temperatures down to -15 C (5F) and often lower.
H - Hardy - are happy down to at least -5C (23F).
HH - Half hardy - can withstand down to around 0C (32F).
T - Tender - may be damaged by temperatures below 5C (41F)
WT Warm temperate can withstand temperatures between 5-10 C (41-50 F)
ST Sub Tropical are happy in temperatures between 10-15 C (50 59 F)
TR Tropical can withstand temperatures above 15 C (59 F)

Please remember that temperatures can vary significantly within quite a small area, and hardiness can be affected by soil, position and other factors.
