Description

Campanula rotundifolia, is known as the bluebell of Scotland and is also the floral emblem of Sweden. Dainty, violet-blue, papery bells are held high on erect stems from July to September. Native to dry nutritionally poor British heaths and grassland areas, the lower leaves are rounded and heart- shaped, while leaves on the flower stems are long and thin. A dazzling, natural summer display of colour will greet you. In recent years, natural, wildflower planting has become increasingly popular, and can be seen in the most prestigious RHS show gardens. No garden is too small for a wildlife area, where you can host insects, birds, and other wildlife. Providing a fantastic feast of seeds, leaves, nectar, and pollen, whilst creating a safe habitat as a warm, cool or dry shelter. Campanula rotundifolia matures to a height and spread of around 50m and prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in sun or part shade. A fully hardy annual, seed can easily be collected and sown for the following year.
