Calibrachoa are a genus within the Solanaceae family, native to South America. The genus name was given to honour Antonio de la Cal y Bracho, a 19th-century Mexican botanist and pharmacologist.
Calibrachoa are perennial plants, often used as part of a bedding scheme or within baskets and containers. They have delicate leaves and masses of petunia-like flowers that form elaborate clusters of flowing vibrant colour from spring through to autumn.
