Description

Add a tropical flourish to your garden with the head-turning spires of Bulbine frutescens. Evergreen, slender succulent foliage and towers of intriguing striped buds emerge in summer and open into unusual, sweetly scented, starry blooms in autumn. Bulbine frutescens is a close relative of Aloe and the sap which is released from a cut leaf offers similar skin-soothing qualities when used as a salve, hence the common name Burn Jelly Plant. Reaching a height of 50cm and spreading to 1.5m, Bulbine frutescens thrives in well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil in full sun or light shade.
